Welcome, readers of the Internet. I hope this blog post finds you well!
First, I want to thank you for even reading this blog post. With the mass consolidation of the Internet, independent blogs are nearly a thing of the past. With most Netizens using microblogging platforms like X (formerly known as Twitter lol) or Reddit if they write at all, the day of small, high-quality blogs are a whiper in a storm.
That's part of the reason why I wanted to start this blog. I miss the days of the Internet when the hard work of dedicated Netizens was accessible and evergreen. With the lockdown of Reddit & Twitter content behind a login screen, the proliferation of garbage compilation websites that flood search engine results, and poor quality content produced by large-language models, so much of Humanity's collective institutional knowledge is becoming more difficult to find.
So, I hope that through your reading of the Occidental Citizen, you become inspired to establish your own blog!
Anyway, regarding the content of the Occidental Citizen, it's quite simple: this blog will cover topics that I, a particular citizen of the Occident, find interesting.
These topics may include:
- Observations of Culture, both on & off the Internet
- Interesting Pieces of History
- Muses on books, movies, and other media in the Occident
- Similar muses on media in the Orient
If you are momentarily confused about what the "Occident" is, don't be! Simply put, the Occident is the "West" whereas the Orient is the "East". My About page covers these terms more if you are interested.
So, I hope you stay tuned for future posts!
